According to a study by the German Aerospace Center, drones and air cabs could be in use in cities around the world in just a few years. New York and Tokyo are among the more than 200 cities considered suitable for air transport, as are German cities such as Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. According to the DLR Institute, the first companies could enter the market as early as 2030. The design of the air cabins, the existing air traffic, the price and the integration into the urban structure are important components for the success of air transport in cities. With a price per kilometer of around four euros, the technology has great potential and will be in demand especially in rural areas.
